Alvarez on Rebuild San Diego Ballot Measure

March 8, 2016

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 8, 2016) – Councilmember Alvarez has issued the following statement in response to the City Council’s approval today of the Rebuild San Diego proposed ballot measure to amend the City Charter:

“The Rebuild San Diego measure will NOT rebuild San Diego.  It produces just 11% of the $1.7 billion we need to fix our streets, sidewalks and buildings in just the next 5 years.  Additionally, the proposal has a giant loophole that allows City politicians to squander this money by giving bonuses to employees far removed from actual construction.”
