Who: Councilmember David Alvarez along with the City of San Diego’s Environmental Services Department, Pinery Christmas Trees, and Urban Corps of San Diego team up to provide free holiday trees.
What: About 200 free and fresh holiday trees will be given to financially struggling Barrio Logan residents.
When: 9-11AM, Friday, December 20, 2013 at Chicano Park.
Why: City of San Diego partners come together to help struggling families during the holidays. Pinery Christmas Trees in Del Mar agreed to donate the trees to Chicano Park. The Urban Corps of San Diego coordinated the event in Barrio Logan, which will be hosted by Councilmember Alvarez who represents the area. The city’s Environmental Services Department is responsible for overseeing and implementing the annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program. Family Health Centers is also promoting this charitable event.
