Councilmember David Alvarez issued the following statement this evening:

“This afternoon I received new and detailed information regarding the allegations against the Mayor.   I immediately reported this information to the City of San Diego Human Resources Department.  Based on this information, I am calling for the Mayor to resign immediately as well as anyone on his staff who was aware of this behavior and failed to act.  

My heart goes out to the victims subjected to this abhorrent treatment.  In order for the City to effectively move forward, I call on all my colleagues to work cooperatively to repair the damage and lead our City.”
